Eilish McColgan Triumphs at London Big Half After Injury

Eilish McColgan secured her fourth victory at the London Big Half on Sunday, returning to competition after a five-month hiatus due to a fractured foot sustained during the London Marathon in April. McColgan, 35, had finished seventh in that marathon despite the injury, which led to her withdrawal from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July.

In her comeback, she completed the 13.1-mile course in 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 54 seconds, finishing 1 minute and 19 seconds ahead of last year's winner, Jessica Warner-Judd. Although this time was over three minutes slower than her best for the course and outside her British record of 1:05:43, it marked a successful return to form.

In the men's race, Kadar Omar Abdullahi of Birchfield Harriers won in 1:01:51, while Jack Rowe finished second, missing out on a record fourth consecutive victory. David Weir defended his title in the men's wheelchair event, winning for the fifth time in nine years with a new record time of 46:13.
