Agnes Ngetich broke the world record for a women-only half marathon at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, finishing with a time of one hour, five minutes, and 15 seconds. This performance improved upon the previous record of one hour, five minutes, and 16 seconds set by her fellow Kenyan, Peres Jepchirchir, during the 2020 World half marathon.

Ngetich, 25, expressed her gratitude towards her coach for believing in her potential to win gold and set a record. She previously made headlines in April 2025 by becoming the first woman to run a distance in under 30 minutes in a women-only race, clocking 29:27.

In 2024, she also became the first woman to run the distance in under 29 minutes during a mixed road race, finishing in 28:46. Ngetich plans to return to track races in 2027, aiming to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships, which she considers the only title missing from her achievements.

In the men's half marathon, Sweden’s Andreas Almgren set a new European record with a time of 58:06.
