Governor Mbah Calls for Media and Government Truth Collaboration

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah addressed over 300 editors at the 22nd All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) organized by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) in Enugu. He challenged both the government and the media to meet at the point of truth, urging journalists to go beyond headlines and political narratives by establishing facts through evidence and investigation.

Mbah emphasized that the government must be transparent and accountable for its actions, while the press should independently scrutinize these actions and report the truth, regardless of whether it reveals failures or progress. He highlighted the importance of investigative reporting, especially in the context of artificial intelligence, which complicates the distinction between genuine and fabricated information.

Mbah stated that rigorous journalism should not seek evidence to support a pre-determined position but should independently examine evidence and report findings. He also mentioned his administration's projects, including the construction or reconstruction of over 1,500 kilometers of roads.
