68-Year-Old Nigerian Grandfather Graduates with Honors

Chris Osagbaekhoe, a 68-year-old Nigerian-born grandfather, graduated with a first-class degree in Social Work from Goldsmiths, University of London. He began his studies as a mature student at the age of 64 and completed the four-year course, driven by a desire to help vulnerable people.

Osagbaekhoe previously studied Psychology and Counselling from 2013 to 2015. He is a father of four, grandfather of 12, and lives with a disability, which has motivated him to advocate for those whose voices are often unheard.

He began his Social Work degree in 2022 and transferred to Goldsmiths in 2024 after facing academic setbacks. Osagbaekhoe expressed gratitude for the support he received during his journey and emphasized that challenges can lead to success.

He hopes to inspire mature students and individuals with disabilities to pursue their dreams, stating, "If I can achieve this at 68, others can too." He is now seeking his first role as a qualified social worker and plans to establish a community project for young people.
