Military Rescues 31 Civilians in Borno Operation

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) successfully thwarted a mass abduction attempt by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, rescuing 31 civilians during a military operation along the Buratai–Kamuya Road in Biu Local Government Area, Borno State. Capt.

Mohammed Goni, the Acting Media Information Officer of OPHK, reported that the operation, which took place at approximately 3:45 p.m., involved the 135 Special Forces Battalion at Dutsen Kura. Utilizing real-time intelligence, the battalion deployed a Quick Response Force that engaged the insurgents, leading to the rescue of all 31 civilians unharmed and the recovery of four civilian vehicles.

The area was subsequently secured to prevent further insurgent regrouping. In a separate operation, troops of the 5 Brigade arrested six suspected terrorist collaborators in Damasak on July 27, who were allegedly involved in funding Boko Haram/ISWAP.

Additionally, the wife and son of a senior ISWAP finance operative surrendered to troops on July 29, following the commander’s surrender on July 25.
