Minister Calls for Security Partnerships in Education

The Minister of Education, Alausa, directed Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts of tertiary institutions in Nigeria to dismiss any student involved in kidnapping or related criminal activities following proper investigations. During a meeting with the Pro-Chancellor and Management of the Federal University of Lafia in Abuja, he stressed that these institutions must not become breeding grounds for criminality.

Alausa emphasized the importance of safeguarding lives and maintaining the integrity of higher education as part of the Federal Government’s education reform agenda. He discussed campus security, infrastructure development, and student welfare, highlighting the need for collaboration with security agencies to strengthen the Safe Schools Initiative.

Alausa revealed that he met with the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), to develop strategies for enhancing student protection. He reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s directive against negotiating with kidnappers and announced government support for security projects in tertiary institutions through the TETFund 2027 intervention program.
