Mob Kills Sunday Pada Over Theft Allegations in Niger

On August 10, 2026, Sunday Pada, a 30-year-old man, was beaten and stabbed to death by a mob in the Korokpan area of Minna, Niger State, following allegations of theft. The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, reported that four suspects—Ibrahim Abubakar, Aliyu Onah, Godwin Musa, and Aminu Bawa—were arrested in connection with the incident.

Police operatives from the Paiko Division were alerted but arrived after the suspects had fled. Pada was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects were later found in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and transferred to the police. They are under investigation for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

Additionally, the police command reported separate operations leading to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and the arrest of other suspects involved in various crimes, including animal theft and fraud.
