31 States Spend N252bn on Security Amid Actor's Health Crisis

In the first six months of 2026, 31 state governments in Nigeria allocated an estimated N252.26 billion towards combating criminality and insecurity, with Kogi, Plateau, and Bauchi states contributing the largest shares. This spending reflects a significant increase from the previous year, despite ongoing issues with killings, kidnappings, and banditry across the nation.

In a separate but urgent matter, veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, is battling stage-four cancer. His daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, have publicly appealed for medical assistance on Instagram, stating that hospitals have refused to continue treatment for their father.

They clarified that they are not soliciting funds but are seeking any hospital or specialist willing to provide care. Hassan's management has not yet released an official statement regarding his condition.
