Nigeria Allocates N435bn for State Security and Infrastructure

Between January and June 2026, Nigerian state governments received N435 billion through a new intervention by the Federation Account Allocation Committee, designated for infrastructure and security. This funding, classified under the National Chart of Accounts code 11010313, is separate from conventional FAAC allocations.

The intervention was initiated as Nigeria faces increasing insecurity and infrastructure challenges. President Bola Tinubu approved the Infrastructure Support Fund for all 36 states in July 2023 to enhance investments in critical sectors.

Among the 32 states reviewed, 16 reported a total of N265.50 billion under the dedicated revenue line, while 13 states reported N169.75 billion under other FAAC-related revenues. Enugu received the highest amount at N27.02 billion, followed by Gombe with N24.50 billion.

The total funding represented about 10% of total FAAC allocations and 20.71% of the internally generated revenue of the reporting states during the period.
