Adeyemi Denies Role in Controversial Investment Council

Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-styled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, has denied allegations that he solely created the disputed agency. In a statement issued by his legal team, led by Festus Akhigbe, Adeyemi claimed that multiple Federal Government ministries, departments, and agencies acknowledged, processed, or engaged with the council.

He is currently being held by the police and has requested the opportunity to testify before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the council. His lawyers argue that failing to hear his side of the matter would breach his constitutional right to fair hearing.

This request comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the agency's operations and its legitimacy, as the House probe continues to gather evidence and testimonies related to the council's establishment and activities.
