MOSOP Marks 32 Years Since Ogoni Killings, Urges Peace

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), led by President Olu Andah, marked the 32nd anniversary of the Ogoni killings, which occurred on May 21, 1994, when four prominent Ogoni leaders, including Ken Saro-Wiwa, were executed. During a press briefing in Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers State, Andah reflected on the tragic loss that has left deep wounds in the Ogoni community.

He urged the Ogoni people to learn from the past and work towards reconciliation and unity, highlighting the ongoing divisions that hinder development in Ogoniland. Andah particularly praised the courage of the Badei family for their demonstration of forgiveness and commitment to peace.

He called on all Ogoni families, especially those directly affected by the 1994 crisis, to embrace reconciliation and rebuild trust. Additionally, he reaffirmed MOSOP's commitment to promoting peace and justice in Ogoniland and acknowledged President Bola Tinubu's efforts to restart crude oil exploration in the region as part of broader reconciliation initiatives.
