Yobe Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Killing Newborn

The Yobe State Police Command arrested a woman and an accomplice for the alleged killing of a newborn baby girl in Damaturu. The incident, described as heinous and inhumane by the police, involved the infant being strangled and hidden in a box behind a mosque in the Anguwar Boka area.

According to a statement issued by Dungu Abdulkarim, the police responded to a distress call on Tuesday regarding the alleged killing and subsequent concealment of the infant's remains. Preliminary investigations revealed that the female suspect had recently given birth.

Following swift police action, both suspects were arrested and are currently assisting with the investigation. The Commissioner of Police for Yobe State, Usman Kafani Jibrin, condemned the act, emphasizing that every child has the fundamental right to life and dignity, and warned that any individual found responsible would face prosecution under the law.

The police command reiterated its commitment to protecting children's rights and ensuring justice is served.
