Bashir El-Rufai Denies Father's Phone Tapping Allegations

Bashir El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, publicly refuted claims that his father had tapped anyone's phone. He stated that his father did not make such allegations and accused others of sharing unsolicited information to harm his father's reputation.

The controversy arose following an interview with Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, where it was suggested that phone tapping occurred. Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, confirmed that the administration would investigate the claims against Nasir El-Rufai.

The allegations included that El-Rufai had access to Ribadu's phone conversations, which he denied, asserting that such actions would require a court order. Bashir El-Rufai emphasized that the government should not engage in illegal surveillance without proper legal procedures, highlighting the seriousness of the accusations and the need for thorough investigation.
