El-Rufai's Wife Appeals to Tinubu for Fair Treatment

Hajiya Asiya El-Rufai, the wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that her husband does not deserve the treatment he is currently receiving amid his legal troubles. She highlighted that El-Rufai is suffering from high blood pressure and high blood sugar, and has been denied access to medical treatment while in custody.

Asiya El-Rufai emphasized that her family is not seeking presidential interference in the judicial process but is advocating for basic human rights, including access to medical care. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has detained El-Rufai's personal physician, Prof.

Bello Abubakar, alleging he made false statements regarding El-Rufai's hospital visit. The ICPC claims that El-Rufai's visit to the hospital violated court orders.

El-Rufai's trial has been adjourned until July 15, 2026, with nine counts of alleged abuse of office and fraud against him.
