Okonkwo Critiques Tinubu Over N1,300 Petrol Prices

Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar's presidential campaign, stated that any leader who expects Nigerians to pay N1,300 per litre for petrol is unfit to govern. His remarks targeted President Bola Tinubu's administration, criticizing the high fuel costs, the state of the power sector, and increasing insecurity.

Okonkwo suggested that the government could lower prices by directing crude oil to local refineries and enhancing infrastructure for oil-producing companies. He referenced Aliko Dangote's views to support his argument.

The issue of fuel prices has become a significant topic among presidential candidates for the 2027 elections, with Atiku Abubakar pledging to reinstate fuel subsidies if elected. Other candidates, such as Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim and Peter Obi, have proposed various strategies for addressing fuel costs.

Okonkwo also condemned the Tinubu administration for its handling of electricity and security, citing failures in protecting communities from kidnappings and the government's alleged granting of N34 trillion in import waivers.
