Abuja-Kano Highway Completion Set for November at N752bn

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that the remaining sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano highway will be completed by November, with the total project cost estimated at N752 billion. Minister of Works, David Umahi, revealed that more than 80% of the cost for the two major sections managed by the current administration has already been paid.

The highway spans 375 kilometers in one direction, totaling 750 kilometers for both carriageways. The government has previously invested over N200 billion on the section managed by Julius Berger, which has completed 240 kilometers on each carriageway, leaving 140 kilometers (280 kilometers for both carriageways) still to be finished.

Umahi noted that the current administration has completed 118 kilometers of concrete pavement within 30 months and is working on the remaining 164 kilometers. To enhance security, solar-powered streetlights will be installed, and "superhighway guards" will be deployed to prevent vandalism.
