NAFDAC Bans Petroleum Tankers from Transporting Cooking Oil in Nigeria for Public Health

NAFDAC has banned petroleum tankers from transporting cooking oil in Nigeria to prevent health risks from adulterated products. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control issued the directive following concerns raised by the National Union of Edible Oil Tanker Drivers in Nigeria.

Dr. Martins Iluyomade emphasized the need to protect public health by ensuring that cooking oil is not mixed with petroleum products during transportation.

The move aims to safeguard the well-being of over 200 million Nigerians who use cooking oil daily. NAFDAC mandated edible oil manufacturers to use dedicated trucks for transporting their products to prevent contamination and health hazards.
