NAFDAC and Police Enforce Sachet Alcohol Regulations

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Ogun State Police Command have enhanced their collaboration to enforce regulations concerning the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages in Ogun State. Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyi Babaseyi announced this partnership via a post on the command’s X handle.

NAFDAC's Ogun Office 1 Coordinator, Akinwale Fagoroye, led a delegation to meet with Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Abeokuta. The enforcement exercise, which began in Abeokuta, will extend throughout the state until full compliance is achieved.

It targets the removal of alcoholic drinks packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml. Fagoroye emphasized the need for compliance to protect public health and reduce access to cheap alcohol among children and youth.

Ojajuni assured NAFDAC of police support during enforcement operations and reiterated the importance of adhering to the Liquor Act to ensure public safety.
