NAGGW Inspects 2026 Tree-Planting in Kano, Jigawa

Saleh Abubakar, MFR, the Director-General/CEO of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW), initiated a monitoring exercise for the Agency’s 2026 tree-planting activities in Kano and Jigawa States. The exercise began at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, where NAGGW provided 3,000 tree seedlings.

Abubakar, alongside the Provost and officials, inspected plantations from the 2024 and 2025 planting seasons to evaluate seedling survival and the impact of interventions. He emphasized the importance of environmental awareness and tree-planting advocacy among students and staff.

In Jigawa State, the team inspected planting sites in Gumel and Kaugama Local Government Areas, where over 20,000 seedlings, including Neem, Gum Arabic, and Cactus, are being planted. Abubakar praised community participation and stressed that community ownership is vital for the initiative's success.

He highlighted the economic potential of Gum Arabic cultivation and urged beneficiaries to view the trees as long-term investments. Malam Abdullahi Magaji, a community leader, expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting its future benefits.
