Ogun State Revives Six Forest Reserves for 2026 Planting Day

The Ogun State Government has announced the resuscitation of all six forest reserves in the state that were moribund prior to the Dapo Abiodun administration. This initiative was revealed during the 2026 Ogun Tree Planting Day, themed “Root for the Future: Plant a Tree, Heal the Earth,” organized by the State Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, stated that tree planting is a collective responsibility essential for environmental protection and sustainable economic progress. He highlighted the urgency of addressing climate change, citing rising temperatures and biodiversity loss as pressing issues.

Abiodun commended the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for prioritizing environmental sustainability through various initiatives. He assured that Ogun State is committed to supporting national objectives through investments in afforestation and renewable energy.

The tree planting program has evolved into a statewide movement involving various stakeholders, including schools and corporate organizations.
