NEPC Launches SOAR Initiative for Retiree Empowerment

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), under the leadership of Nonye Ayeni, has introduced the Sustainable Opportunities for Active Retirement (SOAR) Initiative aimed at civil servants within three years of retirement. This program seeks to redefine retirement as a launchpad for entrepreneurship rather than a period of financial instability.

SOAR provides participants with practical skills in export procedures, global quality standards, and financing options, covering various sectors from agriculture to logistics. The initiative includes mentorship from experienced exporters, ensuring ongoing support beyond classroom training.

Ayeni has also implemented internal reforms at NEPC, promoting a culture of merit and transparency, resulting in the promotion of seven out of eight directors and nearly all staff who took promotion examinations. Additionally, solar power systems have been installed in most of NEPC's 36 state offices to enhance support for exporters.

These efforts aim to strengthen NEPC's capacity to serve Nigeria's exporters effectively.
