Nasarawa State Bans Football Matches on School Grounds

The Nasarawa State Government has officially banned football matches on school grounds, citing the repeated damage to public facilities and school properties. This decision was announced by Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule, during a monthly press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state council secretariat in Lafia.

Ahemba clarified that while pupils are allowed to play football, it must be on designated school football pitches and not within the school premises. Individuals and groups outside the school community are required to use public stadiums for matches.

To provide alternative venues, the state government awarded a contract last week for the construction of five mini stadiums across Nasarawa State.
