Nasarawa State Suspends Mining Operations in Udege

The Nasarawa State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Sule, has mandated an immediate suspension of mining operations in Udege, located in the Nasarawa Local Government Area. This decision was announced during a press conference on Wednesday in Lafia by the State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Margar Elayo.

The suspension is a response to security reports concerning mining activities in the area and aims to uphold public interest. The government has instructed mining companies to promptly withdraw their personnel, machinery, and equipment from the site without delay.

Additionally, security personnel will be deployed to ensure compliance with this directive and to prevent unauthorized activities in the location. Elayo emphasized that the government's actions are intended to maintain peace within the host community and to establish procedures that guarantee investor confidence in the state’s mining sector.
