NASS to Discuss Funding for Information Ministry with Tinubu

The National Assembly (NASS) plans to meet with President Bola Tinubu to address the need for adequate funding for the Federal Ministry of Information and its agencies. This decision follows a report presented by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Moham Idri, indicating that only N205 million was released from a capital budget of N2.49 billion for the ministry in 2025, which was not fully utilized.

The joint committee expressed dissatisfaction and held a closed-door session to appeal to President Tinubu for increased funding. The committee emphasized that the proposed budget for 2026 is insufficient to support the ministry's operations, particularly in light of personnel and overhead costs.

Hon Olushola Fatoba, chairman of the House Committee on Information, noted that the ministry's budgetary provisions must be addressed urgently to restore public trust in government officials. The meeting aims to ensure that necessary actions are taken regarding the budgetary provisions for the ministry and its agencies.
