National Assembly Reschedules Plenary Resumption to Sept 29

The National Assembly has officially moved the date for the resumption of plenary sessions for senators and members of the House of Representatives from September 15 to September 29, 2026. This announcement was made by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The postponement was approved by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas. The reason for the delay is to allow for the completion of ongoing rehabilitation work in both chambers of the National Assembly.

The Clerk has advised all senators and members of the House of Representatives to take note of this change and adjust their legislative schedules accordingly. The lawmakers had previously embarked on their annual legislative recess on July 23, 2026, following the Senate's adjournment to facilitate this break.
