Obi Critiques National Assembly's Network Coverage Justification

Peter Obi, a human rights and social justice advocate, expressed strong criticism regarding the National Assembly's explanation for network coverage issues that affect the real-time electronic transmission of election results. He described this justification as an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians.

His comments arose during an interview on Arise Television's morning show on Friday. Obi called on Nigerians to rise against the electoral amendment act, which was signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) also condemned the rapid approval of the bill by the National Assembly, questioning the extraordinary haste in passing the law despite widespread public opposition. The ADC's statement, issued by its national publicity secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, highlighted concerns regarding the implications of such swift legislative actions in the context of public sentiment.
