NSCDC Warns Koko Bess Residents Against Asset Vandalism

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), led by Abubakar Kabiru Alkammawa, held a town hall meeting in Koko Bess, Kebbi State, to warn residents against vandalism of national assets. The meeting, attended by community leaders, including Jari Bola and representatives from local organizations, emphasized that anyone caught vandalizing national assets, such as electric poles and transformers, could face a 25-year prison sentence.

Florence Adepoju, Deputy Command Charge, highlighted the severe consequences of vandalism on national security, the economy, and public health services, particularly in hospitals reliant on electricity. Suraju Saliu, the chairman of Koko Bess Local Government, disclosed that nine transformers had been vandalized, resulting in a total blackout for the past seven months.

The community has pledged support to the NSCDC's efforts to combat vandalism, with Muhammad Anach announcing the installation of a 3.5MW solar plant to provide alternative power supply. Residents were urged to report any suspected vandalism to the NSCDC.
