Nigerian Navy Arrests Drug Trafficker in Anambra State

On July 15, 2026, the Nigerian Navy apprehended a 44-year-old suspect named Chukwu Oba during a routine stop-and-search operation at Uga Junction in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State. Following his arrest, Oba was handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Onitsha Area Command.

The handover ceremony was conducted by Kabir Yusuf at the administrative block of the naval outpost in Onitsha. Items recovered from Oba included 30 packs of expired Mamagra Viagra, 100 packs of Fika Viagra, and a one-liter plastic bottle containing a liquid substance believed to be an illicit drug.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Oba purchased the drugs at Ogbo Ogwu Market in Onitsha and was allegedly traveling to distribute them in the Orsumoghu community. The security agency's report suggested that Oba may have connections to armed criminal elements, including members of IPOB and ESN.
