Police Seize ₦5.8 Million Worth of Drugs in Anambra

On Saturday, August 29, the Anambra State Police Command announced the recovery of illicit drugs valued at ₦5.8 million from a suspected trafficker, Mr Chinedu Nwankwo, aged 28. He was apprehended along the Nteje–Otuocha Road in the Anambra East Local Government Area while allegedly transporting a significant quantity of Cannabis Sativa, Methamphetamine, and Colorado (Colos) to various communities, including Otuocha, Anambra West, and Ayamelum.

Police Public Relations Officer Mr Tochukwu Ikenga stated that preliminary investigations suggest the drugs were intended for delivery to suspected criminal elements in the region. The police are also investigating potential links between the drug consignments and activities that could disrupt ongoing Local Government Council elections in the state.

The suspect and the recovered drugs are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of his activities and any other individuals involved. CP Nnanna Oji Ama emphasized the need for continued intelligence-led operations to combat drug-related criminality.
