Navy Arrests Three with Cannabis in Kogi Operation

On September 8, personnel from the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Lugard arrested three individuals suspected of drug trafficking, specifically with 71kg of cannabis. This operation was part of Operation Accord 3 and was conducted following credible intelligence.

The Acting Executive Officer of NNS Lugard, Commander Christian Ottah, disclosed the details while handing over the suspects to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lokoja. The interception occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., and the naval patrol team escorted the boat to the NNS Lugard jetty for further action.

Commander Ottah emphasized the significance of timely intelligence and inter-agency collaboration in combating drug trafficking. The Kogi State Commander of NDLEA, Mr. Umar Yahuza, represented by Commander of Narcotics, Mr. Tuki Andeshak, stated that the agency would conduct a thorough investigation to trace the source of the drugs and identify those responsible.

The operation concluded with the official handover of the suspects and the seized cannabis to the NDLEA for further investigation and legal proceedings.
