Jemila Abubakar Elected WAANSA Nigeria President

Jemila Abubakar, who serves as the National Auditor of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and is an Assistant Director at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), has been elected as the President of the West African Action Network on Small Arms (WAANSA) Nigeria. NAWOJ issued a statement signed by its National Chairperson, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, congratulating Abubakar on her election, which they described as a recognition of her exemplary service, professional excellence, and dedication to peacebuilding and gender advocacy.

WAANSA Nigeria is noted as a leading coalition of civil society organizations focused on combating the proliferation of small arms, preventing gun violence, addressing drug abuse, tackling gender-based violence, and promoting peace and security in Nigeria. NAWOJ expressed pride in Abubakar's leadership role and confidence in her ability to enhance WAANSA Nigeria's advocacy efforts.
