Women in Security Summit Advances Gender Inclusion in Nigeria

The Women in Security Summit (WINSEC) was held in Abuja, organized by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) under the leadership of Alhassan Yahaya, the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). Yahaya commended NAWOJ for successfully hosting the inaugural summit and praised women in the military, police, and Department of State Services (DSS).

He urged NAWOJ leaders across Nigeria to collaborate with government institutions to address critical issues such as out-of-school children, malnutrition, and drug abuse. NAWOJ National Chairperson, Hajia Aishatu Ibrahim, described WINSEC as a significant platform for dialogue and partnerships, while Mrs. Moji Makanjuola, Chairperson of the NAWOJ Board of Trustees, emphasized the necessity of women's full representation in peace and security processes.

The summit attracted various stakeholders, including government officials, security chiefs, lawmakers, diplomats, and civil society leaders, reinforcing WINSEC's goal to advance the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Nigeria.
