NBMOA Intensifies Legal Battle Against Arewa24 Claims

The Northern Broadcast Media Owners Association (NBMOA) has officially disowned individuals it describes as unauthorized impostors and reaffirmed its legal challenge against Arewa24, a television channel. This dispute escalated when Arewa24 filed a ₦10 billion defamation suit against Alhaji Ahm Tijjani Ramalan, alleging false and damaging statements made against the company.

The legal action, initiated in the State High Court in Jalingo, Taraba State, seeks redress for reputational damage and financial losses resulting from the alleged misleading statements. In a strong statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the NBMOA emphasized its commitment to protecting the licenses of indigenous broadcasters and maintaining compliance with Nigerian law.

The association engages with multiple governmental regulatory institutions, including the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission and anti-corruption agencies, to address its grievances. The current court case highlights concerns regarding foreign interests collaborating with local entities to exploit Northern Nigerian identities, with the NBMOA advocating for the safeguarding of cultural and religious values.
