NCAA Approves eSIM Service to Enhance Air Travel Connectivity

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted a “no objection” to Univasa Nigeria Limited’s eSIM service, recognizing its potential to alleviate internet connectivity challenges faced by Nigerian air passengers traveling abroad. Mr. Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, stated that the decision was made after assessing the service and considering user feedback.

This initiative aims to enhance the travel experience by facilitating easier access to internet services for passengers. Achimugu emphasized the recurring connectivity issues for Nigerian travelers, particularly when purchasing data upon arrival in foreign countries.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the federal government’s policy to support local businesses addressing identified needs. Additionally, Achimugu mentioned that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other aviation sector executives utilize the service.

Mrs. Ifueko Abdulmalik, NCAA’s Special Adviser to the director-general, highlighted the importance of improved connectivity for passengers traveling in and out of Nigeria.
