NCC Launches Zero-rated Data Access for Education

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) launched the Zero-rated Data Access to Educational Platforms and Content initiative in Abuja to improve access to digital education across Nigeria. This initiative aims to bridge educational inequalities and support the country's long-term economic growth by investing in human capital.

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, stated that the program provides learners with free access to approved educational platforms, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of building a $1 trillion economy, which relies heavily on developing human capital. Maida emphasized the critical role of education in economic development and the necessity of internet connectivity for citizens to fully benefit from government programs aimed at building digital skills.

The initiative is part of a coordinated national approach to enhance affordable and equitable access to digital education, supporting Nigeria's broader digital economy objectives.
