ALTON Endorses Government's Zero-rated Education Access Initiative

The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has expressed strong support for the federal government’s Zero-rated Access to Educational Platforms and Content Programme. This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Federal Ministry of Education, and participating telecommunications operators.

ALTON's Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo, and Publicity Secretary, Damian Udeh, stated that this program is a significant advancement towards expanding educational opportunities and promoting digital inclusion in Nigeria. They emphasized that connectivity is a crucial enabler of social and economic development, facilitating learning, innovation, and economic participation.

The association highlighted the importance of ensuring affordable access to educational resources as education increasingly transitions into digital formats, which is critical for national development.
