NCDMB and UN Women Collaborate to Empower Women in Oil

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is collaborating with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) to enhance women's participation in the oil and gas industry. This initiative aims to expand access to the $40 million Women in Oil and Gas Fund, which supports women-owned businesses and professionals.
The NCDMB had previously established a $20 million fund in April 2021, matched by the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), but uptake has been below expectations. On October 30, 2026, Ms. Beatrice Eyong, UN Women’s Country Representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS, visited NCDMB’s Abuja office, where she was received by Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager of Corporate Communications, on behalf of Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe.
Discussions included capacity-building initiatives, vendor development schemes, and strategies to raise awareness of financing options for women-led businesses. Eyong proposed a study to identify barriers women face in accessing financing.
