NCF Launches U-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers Camp

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has initiated a training camp for the U-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup qualifiers, set to take place from September 25 to October 4 in Tanzania. This camp assembles 21 players as part of the first phase of preparation for the tournament.

The Nigerian team, led by captain Lucki Pieti, aims to improve upon their previous sixth-place finish at the last tournament in Malaysia. The coaching staff includes Kenyan coach Sarah Bhakita, Theophilu Ebidom, and former female captain Bless Etim.

The team is preparing to compete against Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Malawi, with the goal of advancing to the Super Six stage. The qualifiers will determine which teams will join South Africa in representing Africa at the World Cup in October 2024.

The second phase of the camp will take place in Abuja, focusing on final selections for the qualifiers.
