NDC Leader Dickson Plans Opposition Coalition for 2027

Seriak Dickson, the leader of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), announced intentions to form an opposition coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Speaking on Channels Television's Sunday Politics, Dickson expressed that the NDC is open to building a formidable political front to unify behind a candidate.

He reflected on the lessons learned from the 2023 presidential elections, where the split votes among candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi allowed Tinubu to secure victory. Dickson noted that the NDC welcomes strategic dialogue with opposition leaders and emphasized the importance of collaboration to strengthen their candidacy.

He acknowledged the challenges of uniting the opposition but remained confident in the NDC's ability to unseat the ruling party. Additionally, he mentioned a recent court ruling that set aside a previous judgment affecting the NDC's registration rights, which could impact their political strategy moving forward.
