NDC Sets October 20 for Presidential Campaign Council Launch

October 20 has been set by the Nigeria Democratic Congress for launching its Presidential Campaign Council formally, signaling the party's advancement in readying itself for the 2027 general elections. During a Saturday press briefing held in Abuja, National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas unveiled this timeline and confirmed that organizational blueprints for the council have already been finalized.

The NDC's approach to the council's launch reflects careful deliberation, according to Cleopas. Before key positions are filled, the party intends to engage in substantial talks with presidential candidate Peter Obi along with his running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso.

This measured strategy seeks to guarantee that individuals appointed to campaign roles maintain complete commitment and will safeguard the integrity of campaign operations. Multiple accounts indicate the October 20 event will run concurrently with a National Executive Committee session.

At this meeting, the NDC will ratify pivotal determinations regarding its election approach, distribute Certificates of Return to candidates, and undertake other activities aimed at fortifying organizational frameworks before the 2027 polls begin. Cleopas reiterated that party cohesion remains strong behind the presidential slate, notwithstanding the thorough discussions needed before announcing positions within the campaign council.

The October 20 occasion represents a pivotal turning point for the opposition organization's campaign schedule, marking when preparations formally yield to energetic pursuit of power during the next general election.
