NDDC Launches Reconstruction of Benin-Sapele Expressway

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has initiated the reconstruction of a 15.4-kilometre failed section of the Benin-Sapele Expressway, following a directive from President Bola Tinubu to alleviate the hardships faced by motorists. Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, emphasized the project's significance in enhancing movement and boosting economic activities in the state during the flag-off at Amukpe Roundabout, Sapele.

Aniagwu noted that the state government had invested over N300 billion in federal road corridors to improve conditions for Deltans. NDDC Chairman Chiedu Ebie stated that two contractors would work from opposite ends of the project to expedite completion, highlighting the expressway's role as a vital economic corridor linking the South-South region with other parts of Nigeria.

Ebie assured that the NDDC is committed to delivering the project on schedule.
