101-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Cannabis Dealing in Ogun

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 101-year-old Esther Ogunmabo in Ilisan, Ogun State, for dealing in illicit drugs. She was found with 90 grams of skunk, a cannabis strain, which she claimed to sell to locals.

Ogunmabo stated that she resorted to the drug trade after her provisions shop was destroyed by fire. Her daughter, who lives in Lagos, reportedly arranges the supply of the drugs to her every four days.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesman, indicated that due to her advanced age, the NDLEA chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), directed that Ogunmabo be granted bail and placed on counselling, while her daughter was arrested. This incident highlights the involvement of individuals of advanced age in the drug trade, raising concerns about social issues and economic hardship.
