NDLEA Arrests 80-Year-Old Drug Courier, Seizes 1.63M Pills

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 80-year-old Chika Ugwoji, a suspected drug courier, in Ahoada, River State, as part of a nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking. The operation led to the seizure of 1.63 million Tramadol pills concealed in two trailers.

The NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, reported that the agency intercepted the Tramadol consignments during intelligence-led operations targeting transnational drug trafficking syndicates operating along the Nigeria-Togo-Benin Republic corridor. In addition to the Tramadol, the agency recovered 800 grams of skunk strain cannabis.

The NDLEA also apprehended a businesswoman allegedly linked to a cannabis shipment to Canada and a Chadian couple suspected of trafficking. The agency emphasized its commitment to disrupting drug supply chains and prosecuting individuals involved in drug trade, regardless of their status.
