NDLEA Destroys N301bn Illicit Drugs in Lagos Operation
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) destroyed 329,865.585 kilogrammes of assorted illicit drugs valued at N301.058 billion in Lagos on Monday. The destruction took place at Navy Town, Ojo, and included substances such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and various cannabis types.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa stated that this action reflects the federal government’s commitment to dismantling criminal enterprises. Of the total drugs destroyed, 246,864.535 kg were seized by the Lagos Strategic Command between April 2025 and May 2026, while 83,001.05 kg were from other strategic commands.
Marwa warned drug traffickers that their operations would no longer be tolerated. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, emphasized the seriousness of the drug threat.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, noted that the seizure sends a strong message against drug dealers. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, pledged continued support for NDLEA’s operations.
