NDLEA Destroys N301bn Illicit Drugs in Lagos Operation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) destroyed 329,865.585 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs valued at N301.058 billion in Lagos. This destruction occurred on a Monday and was conducted under the orders of the Federal High Court, Lagos Judicial Division, following the conclusion of uncontested cases and abandoned seizures.

Of the total drugs destroyed, 246,864.535 kg were seized by the Lagos Strategic Command between April 2025 and May 2026, while 83,001.05 kg were sourced from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Tincan, Apapa Strategic Commands, and a Special Operations Unit. NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), described the exercise as a demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to combat drug trafficking, linking it to broader security challenges.

He commended various stakeholders, including President Bola Tinubu, for their support and warned drug traffickers that their days of operating with impunity were over.
