The NDLEA Ogun Command has raised alarms following the discovery and dismantling of a large methamphetamine laboratory in Ogun State. Tijjani Rabe, the state command's narcotics officer, briefed the media on Thursday, highlighting the agency's ongoing battle against drug trafficking as part of activities marking the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Rabe noted that between January and December 2025, the command arrested 771 suspects, including 650 males and 121 females, with 318 individuals receiving counseling and 159 convicted. The agency seized significant quantities of drugs, including 6,179.25 kilograms of cannabis sativa and 1,435.62 liters of codeine syrup.

From January to May 2026, there were 306 arrests, with 272 males and 34 females involved. The command's efforts also include public sensitization programs aimed at reducing the supply and demand for illicit drugs, reaching 60,100 people across Ogun State in 2025.

Additionally, a 10-bed counseling and rehabilitation center is being established in Sagamu to support individuals battling substance use disorders.
