NDLEA Seizes 10,000 Captagon Pills in Kwara State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) achieved a significant breakthrough in its fight against illicit drugs by seizing 10,000 captagon pills in Kwara State. This operation occurred on April 21, 2026, when NDLEA operatives intercepted a trailer along Bode Saadu Road.

The search led to the discovery of the captagon concealed in 10 packs, along with additional quantities of other drugs, including 155,900 capsules of tramadol, 6,000 ampoules of injectable tramadol, 3,000 tablets of co-codamol, and 9,000 tablets of bromazepam. The suspect, 24-year-old Aminu Isah, was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy for NDLEA, noted that this seizure marks the agency's first-ever captagon interception in Africa, underscoring the renewed attempts by trafficking networks to penetrate Nigeria's borders with this highly addictive amphetamine, which is popular in the Middle East and linked to funding militant groups.
