NDLEA Warns Nigerians Against Unknown Cargoes from Abroad

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has cautioned Nigerians against accepting consolidated cargoes from abroad without knowledge of their contents, as some may be contaminated with illicit drugs. Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, raised this alarm in a post on X on Sunday.

He highlighted that some Nigerians abroad are sending cargoes containing drugs such as Colorado and Loud to family and friends in Nigeria, who are listed as consignees. Babafemi warned that unsuspecting recipients could face arrest and prosecution if the consignments contain illicit substances.

He advised against accepting such consignments, especially if the recipient is unaware of the full contents. The NDLEA has reported that many individuals are already incarcerated due to this issue, with numbers increasing as operations continue.

The warning was supported by video footage showing NDLEA operatives unpacking packages containing substances consistent with seized cannabis products.
