NDPHC Starts Rehabilitation of 225MW Gbarain Power Plant

The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has initiated the rehabilitation of the 225MW Gbarain power plant located in Bayelsa State, which suffered significant damage from a fire in November 2020. The fire destroyed critical components, particularly the power control module, and was described by NDPHC's General Manager, Abdullahi Kassim, as the biggest setback for the project.

The rehabilitation is being carried out in partnership with Tilt Energy Limited, with a commitment to complete the project within a 12-month contract period, potentially ahead of schedule without compromising quality and safety standards. NDPHC's management, including Jennifer Adighij, emphasized the strategic importance of the Gbarain power plant in enhancing Nigeria's electricity supply.

The project is expected to restore operations and contribute to the national grid at a time when Nigeria is facing challenges with inadequate electricity supply.
