Reps Commit to Revive Akwa Ibom Power Project

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets has committed to working with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to resolve funding constraints and community issues that have delayed the completion of the 330kV Double Circuit Ikot Ekpene–Ikot Abasi Transmission Line Project in Akwa Ibom State. This commitment was made during a site inspection led by the committee's Chairman, Hon.

Ademorin Kuye, alongside members Tunji Akinosi, Jaafaru Yakubu, and Patrick Umoh. The project has been abandoned for over six years despite significant public investment and is considered a strategic national asset that could enhance the electricity grid and stimulate economic growth in Akwa Ibom and neighboring states.

The committee emphasized the importance of completing the project to improve electricity supply and economic activities. Nazo Agim, the Head of Corporate Communication and External Relations at NDPHC, issued a statement regarding the committee's findings and intentions.
